In this talk titled, “Priestly Celibacy - Only an Discipline?” Fr. Anthony Mastroeni teaches the history and tradition of priestly celibacy that dates back to the divine example set by Jesus Christ. Fr. Mastroeni elucidates that the vow of celibacy is founded on the virtue of purity and that purity is derived from the Cardinal virtue of Temperance. Fr. Mastroeni makes the case that a vocation to the priesthood is a call to love with a heart like Christ and to embrace celibacy as Christ embraced celibacy during His mission on earth.
