In this valuable lecture Fr. Anthony Mastroeni, S.Th.D., J.D., compares the subjects of two documents, Pope Francis' "Amoris Laetetia" and Pope Saint John Paul's "Veritatis Splendor." Fr. Mastroeni argues that Pope Francis' interpretation of "Veritatis Splendor" is lacking in that he fails to understand the distinction between married couples who stay together in continence and divorced and remarried Catholics. Fr. Mastroeni further explains how "Veritatis Splendor" is in its essence an exhortation on the family.
